Gunner have the mids as well.

I asked Airsoft World a few weeks ago when they were getting some HP mids in stock and they said they were not in production. I pointed them at the listing at Gunner and they seemed a bit confused and possibly annoyed that HP appeared to have lied to them or something...

poacher, you will not be dissapointed i bought the hp as i didnt want blowback and 100 quid cheaper.
The finnish isnt as great as the ares but is oil blacked not painted( as continuously stated) and alot more realistic as no real one was perfect.
the g36 style hop is crap ,as the hop adjuster doesnt do anything as to small but a bit of packing will sort this.

I'm not sure why they made them hicaps when the drum is already a hicap. Would make much more sense to do mids IMO.

Given that their drum mag takes 2000 bbs, I guess they think 550 is a midcap

If the drum takes 2000, why would you need another mag???

It is easy to make a hi-cap into a low but not the other way round that simple, most people want a hi so supply and demand.(don't forget the people on this forum are not most people)

It takes about 20min to make a hi into a low you just strip it down and put a taped up lump of polystyrene in it, the tape is to stop it falling apart and getting in the mech just put a blob of glue where you want it to stay. :D

So hence I see no point in a low cap drum mag just a waste of time and money.

Shame the mags are not interchangable between HP and Aries as far as I can see.

Oddball I think you underestimate the number of people that prefer to use mid/low caps over highs. There would certainly be more demand for them than highs. Why would a high cap user opt for a 550 round mag when there is a 2000 one available?

Your modding method doesn't make a low cap, only a smaller capacity high cap. It still needs winding and will rattle like a high cap- the exact reasons I hate using high caps.

If the drum takes 2000, why would you need another mag???

For WWII games where your ammo is limited, or if your mag happens to break.

Actually the loading wheel is the whole point I prefer a high cap even if it is lower or mid because the loading of a low cap is a complete pain in the arse as for the noise I only find that a problem when running and not much at that.
I still think most people on the planet want a hi cap more than low as most airsofters don't do WW2 and will want to use their gun on open days against far superior hi caps in £70 rifles.
Hence why the first mags made for the PPSH were hi not low.

In most 2000 rnd mags for other guns they start to look stupid and unrealistic hence people just buy the 500ish model that is also cheaper. :D

I find I can load 5 Mids(or more lows) in the same time as one high cap, and don't get a sore thumb. I try to cut down any noise possible so high cap rattle can really annoy me. Its ok if you just have one in the gun as you can steady that but any in pouches and you sound like a steam train. Each to their own I guess, but you can go a different way if we're trying to be sneaky.

At least half the players at my local site don't use highs and the poll on arnies (truely representative or not) shows the majority prefer mids or lows. There may still be a preference for hicaps in the Far East but in Europe and a certain extent the US lower capactity is certainly more popular. I don't blame manufactures for making highs as the first mags to go with a new gun, but I don't see the point in doing the same for the second. :slap:

Well, I'll only have 300 odd rounds in 3 magazines.

Thats my aim, even if I have to mod them myself. At least the Ares has the possibility of using MP5 mags for conversion unlike the HP.

Yes I only ever carry 1 mag hence not much noise I find I can load 1 hi cap quicker than 1 low but as you say each to his own, I feel low caps are a bit like having a pipe it's more of a hobby than a habbit
Any times you find you have not wound your mag on in a fire fight is the equivalent to a stoppage that you have to free off.

I suspect many airsofters don’t even use forums much but it is hard to say one way or the other. WW2 airsoft Uk would probably not exist without this forum. :D

So, 3 mags, that requires 2 pouches? Perhaps one pouch and the other mag in the gasmask bag?
Who has repro pouches for the Ppsh drums?
Ost Front do but I'd rather start closer to home.

I got my real pouch from World Wide arms with real mag and oil bottle £40ish.

I picked an original drum mag pouch up at stoneleigh 2010. Wladek got an repro one from Schuster and it was identical to a real deal one and dead cheap.

Some hicaps, like Cyma's Thompson drum mag, can be refilled without removing them from the gun...
